Proud to Be an American

I am proud to be an American. I’m grateful to be able to say that sentence. I spent 18 months living outside the country and it really opens your eyes to what we have. Now, I wasn’t living in a third world country, but I still saw a lot of poverty and poor families. I am so grateful for the freedoms we enjoy, for a land of beauty and plenty.

One of our favorite summer activities is hiking. But this summer that has proven difficult with a 3 year old who whines and complains. Maybe we just haven’t found the right hike yet? I hope that’s the case because she does love to be outside. My husband loves to be outside and in nature and he has taught me how to appreciate the beauty around me. This beautiful world that God created for us. I’m grateful for him and his attention to the details around us.

I take it upon myself to make my home a beautiful place to be. I LOVE my floating shelves and this year I have had so much fun decorating for some of the smaller holidays. I’m so excited with my 4th of July display. What do you think?

I kept things cheap and easy. The white vase I found at Gordmans for $7. The flowers came from Walmart for 97 cents. The printable was my own design and you can download it here: 4th of july printable

Printable’s are an easy way to add holiday flare to any display. The home sign came from Joanns for $4.00. The lantern and star bucket were things I already had.

I’m grateful for this beautiful land we live in and the freedoms we enjoy. And I’m grateful I can bring some of that pride into our home. Happy 4th everyone!
